"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Ordered the 'online only' Collection cashmere boyfriend v-neck in both heather sky and the pale pink, taking advantage of the discount and free shipping. Plan was to keep the colour I liked best on me...too bad - they were both size small but the heather sky was HUGE compared to the pink. Both clearly marked "small."

  2. It is December 25th and I still don't have my Jcrew items that were supposed to be delivered by the 24th. I get an email and they offer to refund my shipping rate. What kind of bullshit is that. How can such a large company fail on so many levels. I couldn't give many people gifts. I know I ordered at the last minute but don't guarantee 2 day delivery if you can't provide it. I have been a loyal customer for years but this makes me think they need to take a step back and value its customers a little more. Not nice JCrew.

    1. This might be the UPS problem that others have posted about, not J. Crew, but regardless it's bad. Because now you probably have to find ways to deliver the gifts to people you would have seen on Christmas. Now you might have to spend money packaging and mailing gifts or driving them to people.

    2. And somehow a company that shipped to me from Japan managed to get an item to me two days before Christmas, which was not supposed to arrive until early January (I knew this up front). How can they manage to go the extra mile from Japan and UPS can't get their packages across a couple of states in time for promised Christmas delivery?

    4. Sorry about your gifts. Lots of news reports that FEDEX and UPS are delivering delayed packages today and not weather related. They could just not handle the volume.

  3. Alexis. I'm sorry if your post was because of me. I am just very upset about the shipping incident. I don't mean to offend. I am just stating what they said to me in a generic email no less.

  4. Not sure what part of the country you are in; but, the Northeast and Canada were walloped by a huge ice-storm a few days ago. Depending on what parts of the country your package was traveling through (I think J Crew sends from PA), delays would be inevitable.

  6. Maybe this is just me...but does anyone else find J.Crew denim sizing just VASTLY different than any other bottoms? I'm a 4-6 in pencil skirts, cafe capris, etc, but there's NO WAY I fit into the equivalent sizes in denim.

  7. I've come across your blog after trying to find out how to contact someone accountable at J Crew rather than receiving identikit emails from the 'contact us' email address.

I am a UK J Crew customer of several years and have been ordering from the US based website with no problems - until recently. J Crew opened their first London store in November and since then the website re directs to a website that is clearly priced very differently from the US site. I ordered 4 sale items yesterday that came to US $170 - when I went to pay , I was clearly re directed to the UK site where the items were priced at an eye watering $472 and some were unavailable. If the items are being sent from the US anyway why this huge difference ? J Crew what on earth is going on here ? The London store opened to great fanfare but when I was in there several like minded customers were asking an assistant about the price differences - she couldn't explain it and looked very awkward.

I want to keep buying J Crew but this is a cynical exercise in profiteering and people will vote with their wallets. Annabel , UK

    1. Annabel, that price sticker shock is the worst! I am so sorry. I know J.Crew has mentioned in the past about tarriffs, etc. But the price differential is really outrageous.

I don't blame you one bit about being upset. I would be too. It is not a small difference in price either.

I am not sure J.Crew has any incentive to reduce prices overseas either- but here is to hoping they make prices more in line with the US.
