Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Yes, I'm going. I've decided I want a couple of things, incl the merino sweater-jacket (S). Will review soon. In the meantime, the tuxedo bib sweatshirt, tweed-sleeve top & drapey swing tee reviewed here.

    1. Definitely agree with you review of the tuxedo bib sweatshirt! An odd hybrid. Just received the tweed-sleeve top in Navy and I am going to keep it. Love your blog!

  2. yes I will, to checkout some of new arrivals (want to see the wool pocket skirt and black tweed skirt in person)! Anyone has heard of deskohan? The brand makes J.Crew prices seem much less outrageous :)

  3. Not going this weekend, new arrivals are not there yet.

  4. If anyone spots the grid scarf on sale in store, could you put it on hold?

  5. I was told that the new arrivals will be in stores on the 17th so probably not going this weekend. I have packages arriving and nothing in the sale section is tempting me right now.

  6. No B&M store anywhere near here, but thanks to the Schaumberg IL store, part of my order from Crazy Popback Day arrived last night already. Included the merino sweater jacket, which I'm on the fence about. I'll be curious to see your review, Gigi, and I'd welcome input from anyone else who's tried this piece!

    1. Re: Merino Sweater Jacket. I was going to size up for a little extra length but it looked terrible and boxy. IMO you should go with your usual size. Sizing up just makes for a wider silhouette and I don't know who wants that! :)

    2. I agree with Shopalot. I took my usual size in knits and have plenty of room to layer it over a long sleeve tee or thin sweater. I got the pink as a change of pace from all the navy pieces I already own.

    3. I reviewed this jacket in the navy colorway here.

    1. Hi FriendlyFemme - check out the second-to-last comment in the new arrivals (11/13) post. It looks like Factory will be doing 40% store-wide with an additional % off. Have fun!

    3. Hi FriendlyFemme, I hit the new crewlet this evening. Some things were 40% off, some 30%. I picked up a couple shirts and some shoes. The mall area wasn't as crazy crowded as we thought it was going to be. Have fun!

    4. So the offer is up, but the prices haven't updated and likely won't update for another few hours (smh @ J Crew website/tech resources). Promo codes HOLIDAY and EARLYBIRD are working for the addt'l % off. So, once the prices update online (and they hide all the puffer vests) tis all systems go.

  8. I'll be heading to the Toronto Eaton Centre location. Hoping for a great selection in the sale section! Just looking for some basics - maybe some new tippis. Also longing for a pair of minnies. Not on sale, I know, but a girl's got to have what a girl's got to have!

    1. Was there the other day and the burgundy minnies were on sale. Mostly size 0s and some larger sizes though.

    2. I purchased my first Minnies yesterday for only $44! I asked if they would honor my teacher discount with the 40% off and the manager was very willing. Pants are so comfy and flattering! Wearing them now.

      Delete
    3. I have trouble styling the minnies, and I think I'm the only one. I usually tuck blouses into my pants and it just doesn't seem to work with the minnies.

      Delete
    4. @teeny84,

I think I'm the last person who finally bought the Minnies. LIke you, I had trouble styling them, but for $44, I decided to try it out. I wore mine with a simple turtleneck untucked and it looked fine. Also, my SA suggested pairing the Minnies with the Jackie twinsets, an oversized sweater, and a button down untucked. She said to just think of the Minnies as dressy leggings.

    5. ooh- what was their tippi selection like? I've been desperately hoping to find the warm cocoa in XS for weeks. There's one on ebay but they won't ship to Canada :(

      Delete
    6. I wear my minnies like I would wear leggings, so usually with longer sweaters, or an untucked shirt.

  9. Like others, I'm going to wait until new arrivals are in the store before I go. The one item I'm really interested (aran crafts turtleneck) in online only, but I think I'm going to wait to see the reviews before ordering.

    1. That sweater is in my cart too FFM. If there is a promo do you think it would apply to this or would it be a 3rd party exclusion? I wish it was in store and not online only so we could have a review. I am interested in knowing the color irl and fit. Sometimes I see things that say online only in stores so if anyone out there runs across it let other JCAs know please.

    2. Hi Shopping Celle - I think it will be excluded now. The description has been revised to add the ™ after Aran Crafts.

    3. Grrrr. I may should go on and order then but it is so not like me to ever pay full price! Thanks Silver Lining!

    6. @ShoppingCelle- I tried the Canadian promo code that I received in a mailer and it applied to the sweater. I like it too but not sure I need another heavy sweater. HTH

    7. Thanks Rebecca! You are a doll to check that out for me. I might hold out for a promo then!

    8. jan you are a doll too. What a great community we have here.

    9. No problem Shopping Celle! Of course that doesn't mean it will necessarily work the same way with the next full price promo when they seem to go out of their way to make sure third party items are excluded.. I hope it works out for you!

    10. Shopping Celle: I decided to give the chat feature another try for ordering the turtleneck and the rep placed the order for me and honored the 25% off GOSHOP promotion. I threw in a pair of socks to make the $100 minimum and he applied the 40% off STYLETIME to them, since they're on promo right now. I was going to try two sizes of the sweater, but decided to just go with the XSmall after reading measurements for several of the Aran Crafts sweaters being sold on QVC right now. The turtleneck is $67.50 with the 25%, btw. :)

      Delete
    11. Might have to give that a try! Thanks FFM. You are truly fabulous.

      Delete
    12. You're welcome Shopping Celle! I hope you are able to get the discount if you decide to order. Be sure to try a second time if you get turned down the first time. That's what I had to do, and I'm glad I did since the second rep was really nice and very helpful. Plus the price of the sweater is extra good with the extra 25% off applied.

    13. I just placed an order for both the s and xs because I truly had no idea how it will run. I usually wear a 4 or S but sometimes get XS. The live chat rep gave me the usual blah, blah, blah about it being a 3rd party item but she said she would make an exception and apply the 25% GOSHOP. I think they are getting so much flack about the pulled promo (or maybe just low sales with the latest rollout) that they are trying to do whatever they can to keep customers happy. I just received my Style Guide in the mail today and after looking through I found I few things that look better than the online photo so I may have to check them out in person next week. Thanks so much FFM.

    14. I tried to have my order from the other morning adjusted. Got the spiel about it being third party, promo expired, check jcrew.com for the most up-to-date promo info. SOOO annoying that they are applying this for some and not for others. Replied saying as much and that it's not cool that they pulled the promo early. We'll see what they say to that. Lame J Crew. Really lame.

    16. I saw aran crafts sweaters at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and even Goodwill within the past two days. They were all boxy and what you would expect such a sweater to look like. I hope the JC one is a little sleeker. The ones I saw at TJs/Marshalls were $59.99, btw.

Of topic but fun to share... The " messy braid" as suggested by Gayle at JCtumblr... Who is JC catering to again? Prices would suggest that it could be me but the messy braid suggest otherwise :)

  13. I will be heading to the B&M today but to return my entire $350+ order I received yesterday. J.Crew really missed their mark with me this fall/winter. I was so excited about some of the items only to receive shapless sweaters, itchy, gross rabbit hair sweaters, and unfortunate sky-high prices for horrible fabrics. The Factory has been reeling me in a bit. They have some great items but the more "exclusive" regular Crew just didn't do it for me this time around.

I did, however, just place an order with L.L. Bean for 3 cotton cable knit fisherman style sweaters and a pair of flannel-lined slippers for less than $150 and free shipping. That I am excited about! Sorry J.Crew. You left me sad this holiday season. Hope to see some better items this Spring.

P.S. I am not entirely unhappy with JC. A WWFIFY left me with a vintage pewter Tartine Satchel with the last promo. That bag is gorgeous! It's my silver-lining.

  14. The Aran sweater mentioned a relaxed fit. I asked for chest measurements, but the rep didn't have them. I guess I'll just have to wait till it arrives next week.

  15. I went yesterday to make a return. Looked around to see what was new, and I'm not sure if the SF B&M released any of the new stuff from the roll-out. Nothing piqued my interest, maybe just a couple things. Honestly, I am a little tired of their Moroccan inspired sweaters. The designs aren't as mind blowing to me. No wonder its lingering in the sale section so early from when it was released.

OT: Not sure if anyone has shared this...but I was just watching Law & Order SVU, commercial comes on, I see a family wearing nice clothes, as I look closer I noticed their clothes looked familiar, to my surprise its a Master Card Holiday commercial featuring J. Crew! Mother, Father and kids all wearing J.Crew. The black tie part of the ad, the mom's head to toe look reminded me of Jenna.
    It's a cute ad.

Isn't it weird, well it is to me, to see J.Crew merchandise used in commercials, movies, tv shows...

    3. JSR, yes, saw the Disney promo on tv. We don't watch it a lot, so I haven't seen it since. Camera is never ready to grab a screen shot of the tube when I want it. I never know if I should be a proud fashion geek or embarassed that I recognize J Crew gear on tv and on people irl. I think I threw a lady off guard the other day when I complimented her Kate Spade Maryanne by name.

  17. New JC B&M West Vancouver Park Royal store (Cda) finally opened today. Big men's store, ladies shoe area like Pac Ctre. Whole Crewcuts section in the back wing of the store. Ladies stock in two sections much like PacCtre. No sale section yet!! Was looking to stock up on few basic painters and tippi's -no luck. OT Sephora, Loft, Anthropologie also open now in the new section of this mall, though like walking through a construction zone. Zara, Lush and others still to come.

  18. New Factory promo is up, everyone. Hop on the train!

40% off everything, extra 10% if you order 2 items, extra 20% if you order 3 items with code EARLYBIRD (code HOLIDAY works as well). Camp socks for $6.80, midrise toothpicks for $38, hats/scarves/iPhone accessories/etc for <$20. They have some nice looking men's bags and accessories too. Good promo to get a jump on your holiday shopping. I think that stuff's going to go fast.

  19. I received my Aran sweater yesterday night (I was resigned to wait forever because of Surepost but was delivered by UPS in two days as usual).
First, this is the real thing and not something made especially for JCrew. I was almost sure of that because otherwise it would have been offered in XXS. It is very thick and soft as you could expect (tried it without a layer and didn't find it itchy at all). This is one warm sweater (much warmer tgan my cashmere ones). It has a handknit look even if the label doesn't say. I would describe the color as cream, not ivory and not oatmeal.
Now, the fit. It is definitely oversized. I didn't expect it to have a slim fit but I have a lot of extra fabric in the underarm area (sleeves are a bit raglan, or at least on me!). The turtleneck also comes up very high on me and gives me the "I am wearing a cast" look, lol.
So not flattering. Still, it is so comfortable to wear that I am tempted to keep it just for warmth's sake.
I have a pick on Instagram (look for crazyaboutjcrew). HTH someone!

    4. Thanks for the review and pic Ema! I definitely like it overall and am glad to hear that it's soft and warm, but I see what you mean about the neck. I wonder if it would look better if the neck was looser? It will probably stretch out if you block it (put the neck in some cold water, then put something large in the neck hole so that it's stretched way out and let it dry). It won't damage it and you can always block it again to put it back to normal (or close to).

Rebekah, that sounds doable. Good tip! I'd be afraid of messing it up, though.

    6. The Huffington Post did an article last week that named "A Real Irish Sweater" as one of 15 things to buy now that will make your life better in 20 years. Aran is one of the brands in the photos. Sorry I can't link at the moment but it's a great list worth checking out.

Turtleneck versions of this type of sweater are almost always overwhelming at the neck. I couldn't wear this style. I have seen "real Irish" crew, cardigan, and zippered mocknecks at TJMaxx or you can order directly from Aran if those styles are more flattering on you.

      Delete
    7. Thanks Ema for the tryon. I am cautiously optimistic and looking forward to receiving mine. I am especially glad to hear it is a true ivory. I'm thinking it would be great for outdoor winter wear with a vest. Maybe for ice skating, or a winter walk where you are more worried about warmth than flattering your figure.

      Delete
    8. Thanks for the review, Ema and the link, Gigi.
It's such a lovely sweater, but looks like it won't be a good fit for me. I was so tempted to order it; you both have saved me from a return.

This is the link for a similar Aran sweater or maybe the exact one but cheaper. I tried comparing this sweater with the J Crew one and they look almost identical. Can't really tell because the lighting in the stock photo on the J Crew site makes the detail look washed out...

    12. It's cheaper but costs $35 to ship to USA...best to go with J Crew if you want that sweater.

      Delete
    13. If you're looking for a made-in-Ireland Aran sweater, I highly recommend Blarney Woolen Mills. Free shipping to the US (15 USD to ship to Canada), and they have a lot of styles available in the same price range as the J.Crew Aran sweater. Their sweaters do tend to run large, but they are extremely comfortable.
