JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. This question is sad, but...what shoes do you all wear with Waverly chinos when they aren't rolled up? No shoes seem to work for me.

    1. What about a pair of skimmers/pointy-toed flats? I don't own any Waverly Chinos, so this is just a guess :).

  3. Amending my previous comment: free shipping on all orders, plus some new arrivals! Also, the complimentary shipping and returns on handbags and shoes (as mentioned in the September catalog post, I think) is now in effect. Yay all around!

  4. Not exactly a Help Style Me question, but a question about styling!

Does anyone have a personal stylist at their B&M? I'm just wondering—why do you use or like them? How has getting a PS been beneficial?

    1. I have an in-store PS and she has been great! She lets me know when new arrivals are in store, holds items for me in my size when I can't make it in, tracks down sold out items for me (even sale items), and applies my student discount and free shipping to online orders that I place through her.

  6. OT: For all those interested in the return of the the Sterling skirt (which I blogged about here last Thursday), it is online this morning in Black, Retro Jade, Crimson Maple, and Heather Acorn with a ship date of 8.29.12. There will be more colors offered next month, and those are listed in my post from last week, too. :)

  8. Not so much about styling more on sizing. If anyone has the 5 inch short in fanfare print, how is the sizing? Does it fit like your size in the cafe capri or do you think if fits like the chino shorts where I have to go up a size? Before I hunt for them I just wanted to know what size to look for.

  10. I'm going to Northern CA in about 4 weeks to spend the weekend wine tasting. Any outfit suggestions? It's just now getting really hot here in Southern CA so I'm expecting it will be hot. I love dresses and I have these that I have not worn...do you think any of these would be good.
    Stripe derby dress
    Puckered dress
    Dree dress in deck stripe
    Midsummer maxidress in Raj paisley
    any other suggestions?

    1. The weather is very different than Southern California. I'm not there right now, but it does get quite cool in the evenings in Napa and Sonoma. So be prepared for that. I might bring a trench coat.

    2. I would definitely throw in a sweater or wrap if you are planning on bringing sundresses

  11. Another style me question - I LOVE all the pictures where the models are stacking bracelets but does this really work? If so, what kind? I'm not very good at styling myself and hence rely on a PS. I'm not 100% on Jcrew only jewelry...but I would like to know what bracelets to buy to stack. I have some from jcrew, kate spade and many tiffany ones...but I simply need a list of what ones to wear together...all bangles? can you mix bangles & charm ones - UGH! Thank you for your help!

  12. I've been loving the optic dot, but am lost on how to style the navy/green one. I wear navy pants often, but am scared this is too matchy, and do not wear green often. Any suggestions appreciated!

    1. I think it would be adorable with fuschia-colored pants. A fuschia that leans more purple. Also white pants/jeans.

You could also tuck it into a navy skirt. I think that would look nice — it won't be too matchy matchy b/c when you tuck it in, the top will be mostly green from the larger dots.

I could also see it with boyfriend fit (darker) khakis.

  13. Has anyone done a review of the satin Adrianna buckle heels? There is a pink/chestnut pair on ebay for an outstanding price but I'm curious about fit (specifically length). Thanks.

  15. If I wear a 5.5 in the suede mona would I be able to wear a 5.5 in the printed mona? I know they run small, but do they run smaller than the regular mona or when people say they run small do they just mean the mona in general runs small?

  16. I just bought the high waisted denim pencil skirt in size 27, I am a 2/4 in the number 2 pencil skirts, however I found the denim skirt a bit snug. Wondering if it will stretch as some denim does? If any one that owns it can let me know that would be great...just not sure whether to rtn for a bigger size.

    Thanks
